Ann W. Smith was born to the late Charlie B. Williams and Thelma J. (Williams)
Nobles, in McKinney, Texas on May 9, 1945. She accepted Christ as a youth and
attended the Church of God and Christ of McKinney under the leadership of the
late Reverend Frank Smith.
Ann graduated from J. N. Ervin High School in Dallas, Texas. She later completed
business courses at Cedar Valley College and the University of Chicago. She
initiated her career in retail management and later transitioned into her passion,
African American hair care. Ann worked for Johnson Products as a top Sales
Executive and later worked for Pro-line Corporation in which she climbed the
ranks to International Sales Director. Ann also helped launch Ethnic Gold, a make�up line developed for women of color.
Ann would later become the owner of ColorRush Beauty Center and host the radio talk show "Girlfriends" on KKDA.
Ann was very involved with the Oak Cliff Community. She often volunteered by
assisting with voter registration and pioneered the way to successfully petitioned
for enhancements of the Singing Hills Neighborhood Park which included: tennis
courts, a walking trail, and beautiful landscaping. Ann was also a self-taught artist
who crafted beautiful paintings. Her most notable joys of life came from spending
time with her nine grandchildren and great granddaughter.
Ann leaves behind to cherish her memories; her husband, Wallace D. Smith Sr,
her son Wallace D. Smith Jr (wife Jennifer Smith), her daughter Dawn Williams
(husband Chadwick Williams Sr), her stepson Alvin Runnels (wife Yvette Runnels),
her grandchildren: Jerrard Hopkins (fiancée Olivia Aigbogun), Chadwick Williams
Jr, Tyler Smith, Chantz Williams, Anaya Runnels, Wallace D. Smith III, Alvin
Runnels II, Aaron Runnels, Clarissa Smith and great-granddaughter Shiann
Williams. Ann is preceded in death by her daughter Rhonda Smith, Brothers:
Luther James Williams, Nathaniel Williams, Willie Jean Williams and Leslie B.
Williams.
