Yvonne Rhea Dowell (Meme) was born to the parentage of Herman Hugh Odom, Sr and Bernice Mae Riley. From this union Meme was blessed with six siblings, Herman, T.J., Annie, Maureen, Clara and later in life Sidney. Yvonne was affectionately given the name Meme by her 1st granddaughter, Kenisha, at age 1. A name that Yvonne was smitten with and made it her mantra. Meme graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and took an early interest in the field of nursing. An interest so great she dedicated 40 years of her life rendering her services to geriatric care and wherever she was needed. Her love for nursing was so great she participated in volunteer services to help others and was granted different awards and accolades for her services. She was baptized in the Faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and went on to get licensed as a minister. She was often found spreading the Good News and this brought her joy.VENTURES:Meme enjoyed life and found joy in living. She was often the life of any gathering and could easily turn a frown into a smile. She was adventurous and loved to travel. She could often be found on the high seas and lakes on ships and boats while she counted "These Two Dollars and kept her "Boots On The Ground." She could be spotted counting her winnings and would graciously share with those not fortunate enough to win anything. She found great joy acting in the Walker Texas Ranger Series, participating in theaters, plays, dancing and singing competitions. She loved comedies and had an infectious laugh and gorgeous smile. She never met a stranger and when she did she wouldn't shake their hands. She fought for the underdog and sung for the victor, especially when they stood for what was right.Family; She often said her greatest accomplishments were her five children , and her greatest loss was having one that preceded her in death (Thomas Roberts 2006). She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Herman, TJ, Annie, Maureen, and Sidney. Her family legacy continues with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Meme is survived by her children, Sidney Roberts, Bill Easley, Bernice McGee, Deborah Swanson and one Sister, Clara Roberson (Oliver).Meme remained strong in her faith until God called her Home. Meme was greatly loved and admired by family, friends and many who knew her. She leaves us to take up the mantle and continue to fight the good fight. Take your rest now. We will always Love you!!!
