Mother Cobb was born on August 21,1939 in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Steven N.Hicks and Ruby Mae Scott. She received her formal education in Dallas Public Schools. She attended and graduated from the renowned Lincoln High School participating as an award winning female athlete on the "Mighty Tigers" Swim Team.
Following her graduation, Morher Cobb was employed for a time as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Baylor University Medical Center. A very hard and diligent worker, she later embarked upon a long-time career as a Dry Cleaning Professional at which she's excelled; and was employed for many years in that profession until her retirement.
In 1957,she married Emel "Pete" Cobb the love of her life.They shared a lifelong bond of 63 years that could only be breached by death. Together, they were pioneering entrepreneurs in Dallas' entertainment and nightlife as Owners of the well known and popular Club "Back on the Block" ( later named Club " YDC" after her initial located in historic South Dallas.
Mother Cobb believed the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and was baptized at an early age. For more than 30 years she was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Dr.Sammie Davis, later she and her family united with Koinonia MBC, under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Patrick Rucker, where she remained a loving and dedicated member until her passing.
Those who preceded her in death include: her parents; son David Earl Hicks;daughter Vanessa A. Cobb; grandson, Emel N. Cobb; sister Teresa R. Cobb; and brothers, Tim Hicks and Felix Hyder. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her beloved spouse of 63 years, Emel " Pete" Cobb; daughter Carman Hudson; grandchildren LaVonda March (Anthony), Tamika Cobb, Benjamin Hudson III (Tarsha), Monique Peoples of Cincinnati, Ohio, Keith Thomas and David E. Hicks II, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great- great- granddaughter, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, special cousins Ruby Cole and Reuben Smith of Ft- Mohave, Arizona and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephew, other relatives, dear friends, and her Koinonia Church family.
