Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Willie Clarence Demery, a beloved father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Willie passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024, at the age of 85, surrounded by family. His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew him.

Willie was born on December 25, 1938, in Coushatta, Louisiana, to Clarence and Sue Demery. From a young age, he demonstrated kindness, intelligence, and a curiosity for life.

In 1959, he married the love of his life, Fannie Demery, and together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Willie was a devoted husband and father to two children, Tyrone and Tracey. His unwavering dedication to his family was evident in every aspect of his life.

Willie and Fannie moved to New York in 1963, where they both worked and raised their family. In 1971, they moved to Texas to continue raising their family. Willie worked for Eastern Airlines and later had a career in the medical field at Presbyterian Hospital, from where he retired.

He had a passion for the outdoors and loved yardwork, fishing, and all kinds of sports. He could also be heard singing songs that he would make up. He loved dancing at parties as well.

Willie's legacy is one of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. He is survived by his wife, Fannie; his children Tyrone (his wife Tammy) and their daughter Mariah, and Tracey (her husband Lawrence) and their two sons, Lawrence William and Terence; and four great-grandchildren.

He also leaves behind sisters Dorothy McBride, Shirley Newton, Margaret Davis, and brother Michael Demery, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Though he may be gone, Willie's spirit and the love he shared with so many will live on in our hearts. His life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact one person can have on the world. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will endure through the lives he touched.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Sue Demery, and his brother, Lloyd Demery.
