Willie Jean
Banks
August 26, 1939 – August 6, 2024
Willie Jean Banks was born on August 26, 1939, in Goodman, Mississippi, to her parents, Willie Eva (Carson) and David Creamer. She departed this life on August 6, 2024, after a long and meaningful existence. Her formative years were spent in Durant, Mississippi, where she frequently attended Spring Ridge Methodist Church and later became a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church. Following her education at Holmes County Training School, she continued her academic journey at Rust College in Mississippi.
Over the course of her career, Jean undertook several professions. However, her true calling was in working with children. In the late 1980s, she became a childcare provider with the City of Dallas, where she looked after several children in her home for many years. Later on, she assumed the role of assistant director at the Warren UMC Day Care, a position she held until her retirement.
Jean's enthusiasm for music was evident in her love for singing and playing the piano. She also found joy in baking cakes and pies together with her husband, John.
Jean's memory will be cherished by her three children:
· Sherry Lane, Millington, Tennessee
· Charolett Houston Johnson (Jack) Garland, Texas
· John "A" Banks Jr. (Tina) Dallas, Texas
· Including two bonus daughters, Chanel Banks Brown (Ezell) Cedar Hill, Texas
· Vonda Banks Watson (Roy) Duncanville, Texas
Surviving Jean are her siblings:
· Ora Blake (Richard) of San Antonio, Texas
· Dorothy Creamer of Dallas, Texas
· Doris Young of Durant, Mississippi
· David Creamer Jr. of Durant Mississippi
· Gertrude Samms (Oscar) of Dallas, Texas
· Linda Creamer of Tacoma, Washington
Also a host of many beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
