Lee Funeral Program

Born on August 11, 1949, in Greenville, Texas to Warren Gamaliel Lee and Mary Ludie Giles Lee, Warren Jr. was the fourth of four children. A precocious little boy, he was known for 'peeking' around the corner of his home to see who was coming through the front door, thus earning the nickname "Peakie."

A 1967 graduate of Greenville High, Warren, Jr. played football and baseball, ran track, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. He enrolled into the University of Texas at Austin where he played on an all-black intermural basketball team and the intermural football team of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity.

Warren married his high school sweetheart, Cassandra Mims of Greenville in 1967 and to that union two daughters were born: Kimberleigh Mari' and Krista Michele'. Together, they continued their educational pursuits at UT where he started as a pre-med major but later changed his degree plan to accounting. They were divorced in 1975.

By Fall 1971, he and his freshman roommate, Thomas Sibley (Pair Extraordinaire) were initiated into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and both went to work for Atlanta Life Insurance Company later that next year. Warren rose to the ranks of staff manager at the Austin office.

While in Austin, he was introduced to (Ethel) Loraine Green, a UT graduate student, by her boss Austin City Councilman Jimmy Snell who was also the General Manager of the Atlanta Life Austin office. They got married on August 26, 1978. The entire wedding party traveled to Natchez, Mississippi for the nuptials. Their son, Warren G. Lee, III was born in 1981.

Prior to their wedding in 1978, Warren was hired to head the Atlanta Life San Antonio office. However, he changed directions to be an account representative with Southwestern Bell and within months was fast-tracked to account manager and relocated to Dallas with his new wife where they united with Mt. Pisgah MBC in 1980. He left Southwestern Bell (then AT&T) in 1981, started Warren Lee & Associate in 1982 (-2020) and serviced as Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church's Business Manager where he remained until retirement in 2019.

Warren's meteoritic trajectory in his fraternity was unprecedented. He pledged in 1971, served as 2nd Vice Grand Basileus (the college position on the national board) in 1972 and continuously worked on national committees or as a national officer (Grand Keeper of Finance, 38th Grand Basileus) through 2022, with only one year of absence. He believed that Omega men could and should make a difference in the lives of black folks and dedicated himself to being a meaningful leader since, as he put it, "everything rises or falls on leadership." According to his fraternity brothers he experienced his greatest Omega moment when he saw his son cross the burning sands, calling it "the happiest day of his life."

Throughout his service to his fraternity, the Pro-Duffers and Mt. Pisgah, as well as in guiding his family, he stressed the importance of continuous learning, self-improvement, and edification of each other. He was quick to utilize his intelligence, resources, and wisdom when deemed appropriate.

Warren leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Loraine, and three children: Kimberleigh Mari' Middlebrook (Wendell), Krista Michele' Lee and Warren G. Lee, III (Christyn); five grandchildren: Kristapher Gulley (Metta), Kyndell GayleJoyce Middlebrook, Warren Charles Dunn, Camille Loren Lee, and Warren G. Lee, IV; one great granddaughter, Korei Gulley; one sister, Laverne Winn; one sister-in-law, Norma Jean Lee; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many friends, and fraternity brothers.
