Obituary

Wallace Thompson, born to the late Robert Thompson and Maggie Thompson on February 8, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, was a central figure in
our lives, a symbol of hard work and an example of great leadership.

A native of Detroit and a graduate of Northwestern High School, Wallace was not only our family member but also a serviceman. He joined the Air Force in 1958 at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas, serving as a Weapons Mechanic/Armorer. His dedication to work was exceptional, and his service in the Air Force provided him, and by extension, us, an
opportunity to travel around the world.

Wallace was a dedicated husband to Dora Lee Henry Thompson. Their love story blossomed into a beautiful family, with the birth of three children: Wallace Dion, Norris Bernard, and Carlean Yevette Thompson. In his professional journey, Wallace was more than just a serviceman.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, he joined Northrop in Saudi Arabia, where he taught the Saudi Air Force how to maintain the aircraft
he once worked on himself. After living and working in Saudi Arabia for a decade, he returned to a quiet life in Dallas, Texas. Here, he furthered
his education with a degree from DeVry and transitioned into the role of a computer engineer for Amdahl, before finally retiring in the early 2000s.
Retirement for Wallace was far from boring. Alongside his beloved Dora, he traversed the globe, regularly returning to his hometown of Detroit.
His travels represented his love for exploration, an admirable trait that was infused in his lifestyle.

Wallace's passing on May 18, 2025, has left us with heavy hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Thompson and Maggie Thompson; aunties Mabel and Mattie; brothers Robert Lee Thompson, Charle Thompson, and Vernon Green; sister Betty Smith; and his children, Wallace Dion and Carlean Yevette Thompson. Mourned by his family and friends, we remember him as a stalwart, a mentor, and a trailblazer. His indelible legacy of love, faith, and resilience remains with us, shaping our lives and values. He is survived by his wife, Dora Lee Thompson; son Norris Thompson (Shelia); and four grandchildren: Alond Geiger, Sasha S. Thompson, Sharletta R. Thompson, and Deashia M.
