Walker Wakefield
Jr
July 25, 1928 – September 28, 2017
Walker Wakefield, Jr. was born July 25, 1928 in Agden, Arkansas to the parentage of Lizzie Green and Walker Wakefield. He moved to Dallas, Texas and worked as a construction worker for many years and helped build many of the roads, bridges and highways. After retiring he found his new passion fishing and hunting.
He was a member of Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas under the leadership of Reverend Allen Gene Madison where he remained until his passing.
He married Letha Stewart in 1950 but they were divorced in 1979 to this union three children were born Michael Wakefield, Calvin Wakefield, and Dorothy Lee Wakefield. He later married Annie Hicks in 1980 to this union no children were born.
He was well known by his neighbors and those in his neighborhood he was no stranger to anyone that he came in contact with and addressed everyone as a sister and brother. He loved his family and enjoyed cooking for them and telling his late experiences. He loved to share with his family the many fish as well as the many other life game and loved to bake those tea cakes that will be surely missed.
He was a singer of a group in his earlier days which he enjoyed along with playing his harmonica. He loved people and doing for others.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Lizzie Green and Walker Wakefield, Sr.; grandparents; son; niece, Louise Benton; sister, Bernice Wilbert; brother, Percy Wakefield; and wife, Annie Wakefield.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Michael Wakefield (Lavern) and Calvin Wakefield (Belinda); daughter, Dorothy Lee Wakefield Allen; step daughters, Janie Hicks and Floy Hicks; sister, Susie Green; seven grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
