Viola "Big
Mama" Green
May 21, 1928 – February 19, 2025
Viola Green was born May 21, 1928 in Madison County, Texas to the parentage of Isom and Rosie Green.
Viola received her early childhood education in Madison County.
Viola accepted Christ at an early age and continued her walk with Christ at Progressive COGIC and later joined Full Gospel Holy Temple until her health failed.
Viola was employed with Silent Night Nursing Home, alongside her twin sister – Mattie Rashaw, in Lancaster, Texas until retirement. As the last matriarch of the family, Viola took great pleasure in letting everyone know she was the 'Queen of Fishing' and could cook a rabbit like no other. She also shared a host of memories dated back to her childhood to give each and everyone a glimpse of how far we have come.
Viola was called home on Wednesday, February, 19, 2025. She was obedient and exhaled, and now she rests in the Father's hands as she is reunited with her children, daughters – Eddie Faye Nelms and Ruthie Faye Young and son – Eddie Ray Smith and one grandson, Mark Anthony Nelms, Sr. Preceded in death by her siblings, Oran Carson, Ben Green, John Green, R.L.
