Obituary

Vertia Mae Green was born on August 25, 1935, to the loving parentage of the late Louis and Susanna Ross in Leon County, Texas. She was raised and formally educated in Leon County, where the foundation of her faith, strength, and values was deeply rooted. On January 13, 2026, Vertia peacefully transitioned from this life into eternal rest, answering God's call and leaving behind a legacy that will live on for generations.

At an early age, Vertia gave her life to Christ and carried her faith quietly and faithfully throughout her life. Her faith was evident not only in her words, but in the way she lived—through kindness, patience, forgiveness, and love. She was a woman of grace and wisdom, whose presence brought comfort and whose voice carried reassurance.

After high school, Vertia moved to Dallas, Texas, where she pursued her career and developed a lifelong love for travel. She enjoyed seeing new places and experiencing different cultures, often sharing stories of her journeys across the country and abroad. Whether traveling for work or visiting family, she embraced life fully and joyfully.

Vertia was united in holy matrimony to Ace Green, and from this union one child was born—her treasured daughter, Vertia Tolue Taylor. Family meant everything to Vertia. She was the heart and backbone of her family—a strong, steady woman whose love held everyone together. She was a nurturer, a protector, and a guiding light. Many leaned on her for wisdom, encouragement, and strength, and she gave freely, never asking for anything in return.

Vertia dedicated many years of service as a Supervisor at Boise Cascade, and later at Stone Container, where she was admired for her leadership, integrity, and strong work ethic. She retired in 2001, proud of the life she built and the family she helped shape.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Cammie, Louis, Laverne, Billy, Raymond, and Clemar (Bubba); and seven sisters, Ruby, Lurlee, Ada, Sue, Joyce, Loyce, and Louise.

Vertia leaves to cherish her memory her loving brother, Larry Ross (Mary); her devoted daughter, Vertia Tolue Taylor (Kimothy); three grandchildren, Mark Taylor (Angel), Kymberli Kelly Grant (Giovanni), and Kyle Taylor; eleven great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Juliyn, Kamira, Kaden, Serginho, Ava, Jaxsyn, Kingston, Kanon, Jestyn, and Jaidyn; along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, dear friends, and all who were blessed to know and love her.

Vertia Mae Green was truly a great woman—the rock of her family and a source of strength to so many. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her love, lessons, and spirit will remain forever in our hearts.
