Obituary

VERAL MIXON DICKERSON

Late Sunday afternoon on July 1, 2012 at 2:54pm, the Lord called from labor to reward Mrs. Veral B. Mixon Dickerson.

Veral was born in Waterloo, Arksansas on October 23, 1932 the first born daughter of Essie Mae Alexander and Jodie Heard. Her father preceded her in death.

At an early age, she united with St. John Baptist Church in Waldo, Arkansas.

She met and married Mr. Monroe Mixon early in life and was blessed with four sons and one daughter, James, Mavine, Johnny, David and Vernon. Monroe preceded her in death.

Later in life, she met and was married to Reverend Leonard Dickerson and they labored together at churches in Arkansas and Texas before Reverend Dickerson was called to Community Baptist Church and they built the current church and she first served as First Lady until Reverend Dickerson preceded her in death. She remained at Community where she continued to serve until her death.

She leaves to cherish her memory four sons and one daughter, James (Jackie) Mixon, David and Vernon Mixon all of Dallas, Texas, Mavine (Richard) Mendenhall of Austin, Texas and Johnny (Vivian) Mixon of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by her mother, Essie Mae Sockwell and three siblings, Daisy Askew and Mary (Tommy) McKinney of Dallas, Texas and Georgia Center of Phoenix, Arizona and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, three uncles, one aunt, two stepchildren and two very special friends, Sis. Jessie Hampton and Sis. Aszalee Jordon of Dallas, Texas and her church family.

The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, July 8, 2012 6:30-7:30 pm at Community Baptist Church.

The homegoing celebration will commence on Monday, July 9, 2012 11:00 at Community Baptist Church, 2920 Fordham Road
