Travis Joe
Neil Gabriel
November 16, 1937 – July 2, 2025
Travis Joe Neil Gabriel, Sr., affectionately known as "Blue," and "Sunny Boy," was born on November 16, 1937, in Fairfield, Texas (Community of Stewart Mills). He was the eldest of eight children born to Beulah Belle Gabriel-Keaton and Bonner Bault Keaton, Sr. From a young age, Travis confessed his faith in Christ at Rhodes Island Methodist Church in Stewart Mills, Texas, and carried a quiet strength and calm soul throughout his life, always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and family.
Travis attended the Dogan school system, where he excelled academically and athletically. A talented basketball player and active member of the Future Farmers of America, he was recognized every year with the citizenship award and was voted the "Quietest Person" by his peers. He graduated proudly from Dogan High School in 1956.
During high school, Travis met the love of his life, Lois Radford of Corsicana, Texas. They married in 1960 and began their life together in Dallas, Texas. Their union was blessed with three children: Barnarda Gabriel-Taylor, Travis Gabriel, Jr., and LeAndrie' Gabriel.
Travis began his professional journey at National Chem Search, where he honed his skills in sales and business. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own company, Gabriel Delivery Service, which he successfully built and operated for over 50 years, leaving a legacy for his only son to continue.
A man of deep faith, Travis was a devoted member of Carver Heights Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, where he served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Carter. His unwavering commitment to his family and community was evident in every aspect of his life.
Travis leaves behind a lineage of love and memories to cherish. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, three children, his loving grandchildren, Aubrey Charles Taylor and Nina-Symone Gabrielle Ross; his devoted siblings, Barbara Jo Keaton-Lowe, Ruby Jean Jackson (Joe), Bettye Ervin (Rex), Vertie Lean Smith (Jake), and Vivian Skinner; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by Bonner Bault Keaton, Sr., Beulah Belle Gabriel-Keaton and his siblings Bonner Bault Keaton, Jr. and Gloria Calhoun.
Though he will be deeply missed, Travis's legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
