Affectionately referred to as Tome, Uncle Tome, and Mr. Tom, " Tommy Odell Williams, Sr. was born on April 24, 1937 in Waskom, Texas to Cora and Laurine Williams Sr. He was the sixth child born among their fourteen children.
Tommy Williams attended Pemberton High School in Marshall, Texas where he met and fell in love with his wife Joyce Williams. After graduating from Pemberton High School, he went on to serve in the United States Air Force. After returning from the military in the late 50's he and Joyce were married and welcomed six children into their union.
Tommy Williams became a great carpenter and painter; however, his passion was cooking. If you were to describe Tome you could say that he loved life. He was one of a kind, unique, unorthodox and he wore his individuality on his sleeve. Mr. Tom never met a stranger and welcomed all into his home with a hot meal to boot, truly a people person with heart.
In the early 70's his wife Joyce Williams moved to California to be near her father, several years later Tommy Williams followed bring along our extended family. The late Ruby Jean Evans the mother of our sister the late Tracey Evans and our two brothers Troy and Tony Evans. Joyce and Ruby were as close as any two loving sisters. They raised us nine children with lots of tender love and care. By the mid 90's Tommy Williams moved back to Dallas along with our extended family where he remained.
Sadly, Tommy Wiliams, Sr. passed away July 15, 2022 at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by both parents, Cora and Laurine Sr., Ruby Jean Evans, son: Ronald Charles Williams, daughter: Tracy Evans, three sisters, Lena, Margaret and Oretha; three brothers, Larncell Sr., Laurine II and Willie James.
He leaves to cherish his memories his four daughters: Roslind Williams, Trudy Peteet (Charles), Sarita Walker (Lamar), and Yolanda Williams (El Toro); three sons: Tommy O. Williams Jr., Tony Orell Evans
(Williams), and Troy Evans; his twelve grandchildren: Antoine Hamilton (Tia), Brittany Peteet, Cronicas Williams, Angelela Roberts, Shavonna Walker, Shakeeta Williams, Tobias Williams, Akia Brown (Dylan), Angelica Weaver (Le'Keivy), Edwardo King, Davon Walker, Victoria Skannal, and Tony Jr., the youngest of the bunch; sixteen great-grandchildren: Kaydence, Maleeah, Kalil, Kayla, Armani, Zaniyah, Hayven, Amire, Zae'len, Aniyah, Aliyah, Tatum, Lelah, Jaden and baby Niveah; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and companion, Cathryn Hardge.
