Timothy Allen
Miles
April 3, 1973 – August 4, 2024
Life Reflections
On April 3, 1973, at 7:52 PM, Timothy Allen Miles burst onto the scene, and the world was forever changed. Tim had a significant impact on everyone he encountered. His kindness, quick wit, humor, and willingness to always lend a helping hand endeared him to many. Timothy was raised in a loving home by his parents Frankie and Mary Newsome, alongside his siblings Anthony and Pam. As the oldest, Timothy was assigned the protector of the two and took his job very seriously. He only lost Anthony once while walking to church! Thankfully, Anthony was returned safe and sound by a neighbor.
Timothy committed his life to Christ at an early age while attending Graham Street Church of Christ. He spent a great deal of time with his grandparents and often spoke about the times he spent lying in the bed between them, reading the Bible. These were his most cherished memories. His Aunt Pearlie always told the story of being sick and, although Tim was only a small child, he offered to pray for her. He climbed into the bed and prayed for her, and she soon started feeling better. Though his life took many twists and turns, Timothy found a faith that was sure, and he knew that Christ was his only hope.
Family was the number one priority for Timothy. No matter how far life took him, he always found his way home to Waxahachie, where he felt safe, loved, and known. He enjoyed the times he spent on Perry Street playing with his cousins, who affectionately called him Tim-Tim. He and Anthony could sometimes be found by a creek catching crawfish with a nail and bacon. Timothy loved his mom's cooking and was not above making a game out of sending Pam and Anthony into the kitchen to sneak him an extra portion of dinner. They gladly accepted the mission their big brother sent them on and always returned with the goods he had requested! Tim was always ready to take on a fight, not having a fear of anything…except chickens! After an unfortunate attack from his Granddaddy's rooster, Chicken George, left a hole in his brand-spanking-new Michael Jackson T-shirt, Tim was forever done with chickens. Unless, of course, it was fried up and sitting on his dinner plate!
Timothy always prided himself on fixing things and figuring things out. He was up for every challenge he faced, never willing to accept defeat. Tim spent many years working for Lowe's and was known by his coworkers and customers as Tim the Tool Man. He loved helping people and thrived in his role there. One hot summer, his air conditioning was not working. When he managed to get the unit to run with a toothpick, his love for HVAC was born! He attended school to learn HVAC and received a certificate from Cedar Valley College in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. He later tested and was certified and registered by the state of Texas. Timothy spent several years working with his cousin Willie Miles to develop his skills. He looked up to Willie as a role model and loved learning from him. Timothy's last years were spent employed at UT Southwestern Medical Center as a Maintenance Mechanic on the HVAC team. In this role, he was able to learn even more and found a second family in his team. He was very excited to have just been offered a promotion and was looking forward to his new responsibilities with the team. His unofficial part-time job was that of a comedian. He kept everyone around him laughing and in good spirits, a gift that he passed on to several of his grandchildren.
In the summer of 1990, in Wichita Falls, TX, Timothy met and fell in love with LaTosha. Their lives took different paths, but a seed was planted that would bloom much later. They reconnected after 25 years and tied the knot on November 14, 2015. They loved laughing, trying new things, talking about God and the Bible, traveling, and spending time with their grandchildren.
Timothy was preceded in death by his precious mother, Mary Newsome. Timothy leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife LaTosha Miles, father Frankie Newsome, brother Anthony Newsome (Quandra), sister Pam Newsome, children Shanequa (Sheree) Spencer, Tiwana Miles, Timothy Miles Jr, Christian Simms-Velasquez, Dominque Norris, two bonus sons Broderick Mathis and Tyrian (Ty) Brown, grandchildren Alexis Miller, Mariyah Miles, Armani Joslin, Jaceyon Joslin, Jahlyl Berry-Miles, Theia Spencer, and a host of other relatives and friends.
