Tiffany Antonia
Abner
May 4, 1976 – November 18, 2024
Our beloved Tiffany Antonia Abner passed away on November 18, 2024, at the age of 48. The daughter of David Julian and Antonia Sisson Abner and younger sister of David Maurice Abner, Tiffany was born on May 4, 1976, in Princeton, New Jersey.
Tiffany and her family moved to Birmingham, AL, in 1977, where she attended the Cumberland Childhood Development Center and began her love of dancing. At the age of four, Tiffany participated in her first dance recital, where she performed ballet, tap, and jazz routines.
In 1980, the Abner family relocated to Northern Virginia, which afforded Tiffany the opportunity to be closer to her paternal grandparents, David and Madelaine Abner, her aunts Norma "Pam" Robinson and Lalayna Abner (her father's sisters), and cousins Kimberly Johnson and Kourtni Abner. She attended Spring Hill Elementary School and Centreville High School, where she participated in a variety of activities at church and in her community, including Brownie Scouts, Drill Team, and competitive dance.
Tiffany continued to hone her craft as a dancer. She immersed herself in dance lessons under the supervision of Diane Yates, and her dance recitals quickly became a favorite family activity. During her summers, Tiffany enjoyed recreation and socializing at Camp Greenway, as well as traveling to Greenville, MS, to spend time with her maternal grandparents, Maurice and Cleo Sisson; her great-grandmothers, Harriet Garrett Sisson and Mary Russell; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her Mississippi summers included attending vacation Bible school at her grandparents' church, becoming playmates with the children and grandchildren of family friends, and creating lifetime memories with her cousins Dawn Berry and Rhonda Tankerson (daughters of her mother's sister, Michele Sisson) visiting from Dallas, TX.
Tiffany matriculated at Centreville High School in Centreville, VA. As a high school student, she was consistently listed on the honor roll and recognized for her academic achievements. Tiffany was a class officer, a member of the Drill Team, and actively participated in several school-sponsored clubs. Upon earning her diploma in 1994, she began her collegiate career at Virginia Tech University, where she studied Elementary Education. Following in her mother's footsteps, Tiffany became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., initiated into the Theta Phi chapter in 1996.
Throughout her life, Tiffany made an undeniable impact on everyone she met—whether it was teachers, classmates, colleagues, or family members. This is especially true of the bond she shared with her nephew Trey Michael Abner and twin nieces Chimene and Sophia Abner (children of her brother David and his wife, Christiane Pendarvis). She was effervescent, vibrant, and full of energy, with an extraordinary sense of humor. Tiffany was creative and bright, kind, compassionate, and deeply loving. All who knew and loved her are devastated by her passing.
Broken Chain
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
