Terry O. Bennett was born Monday, June 27, 1938, in Freestone County and raised in Streetman, Texas to the loving parents of Terry F. Bennett and Pearlie B. Bennett. Terry attended Fairfield ISD, graduating from Dogan High School – Class of 1957. He was a proud member and Dogan Alumni Association, located in Fairfield, Texas. Years later, Terry Bennett married the love of his life, Margarine Cyrus on November 4,1961. From this union three children were born: Reginald K. Bennett, Cynthia Y. Bennett and LaTonia Bennett.
Terry was introduced and accepted Christ at an early age at Tehuacana Grove Baptist Church in Streetman, Texas. He later became a member of "The Exciting Singing Hills Baptist Church" along with his wife, Margarine Cyrus Bennett, located in Dallas, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Howard E. Anderson, Sr.
Following after his father's footsteps in the cattle business, Terry became a successful cattleman for over 60 years in Streetman, Texas. Terry was employed by and retried from Jack Housman Import and Export Brass located in the Dallas Trademark of Dallas, Texas. After retiring from Jack Housman, Terry was employed by Mitchell Cyrus Bus Leasing for over 20 years.
During Terry's free time he loved working on his 1979 Ford F150 (with no power steering, smoking up all of Sedalia St.). Terry also enjoyed firing up his grill every chance he got and eating a good pot of collard greens and you cannot forget his hot sauce and cornbread with a cold glass of iced tea!
Terry was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on May 8, 2025. He is proceeded in death by his father, Terry F. Bennett and mother, Pearlie B. Jacobs Bennett; sister; Margie Bennett Mills; brothers: Tommy Swanson, James Edison Bennett and Elzie D. Bennett.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife: Margarine Cyrus Bennett; son: Reginald K. Bennett: and daughters: Cynthia Y. Bennett and LaTonia Bennett-Jackson (Reggie). He also leaves six grandchildren: Porcia, DeAndre, Ashley, Ciara, Tyler and Taylor Bennett; ten great-grandchildren: two sisters: Hattie M. Johnson, Ruby Nell Mcllveen (Clifford); and brother, Aubrey Bennett (Joyce); brothers-in law: Mitchell Cyrus and McKinley Cyrus (Proxie) and sisters-in-law: Annie J. Fisher and Priscilla Demus. Terry also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, along with extended family for 64 years the George-Nelums family and many other relatives and friends.
