Obituary

Sister Shirlean Anderson Florence was born November 1, 1960, in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Rev. E. A. Anderson and Sister Jewelean (Gabriel) Anderson. She entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 28, 2022. She was married to her husband Gerald Florence for 36 years; and to this union one son was born – Tonee Florence. She has a step-daughter, Kandice Florence-Hill and a step-son Kendrick Florence.

She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Carver Heights Baptist Church during her adolescent and teen years. Sister Shirlean Florence was a faithful member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church for over 35 years. She served as the President of the Pastor's Aide Committee. Sister Florence always kept the pulpit stocked with drinks, fresh handkerchiefs, Communion gloves and mints. She was a member of the choir, finance committee; and served as the Bible Study treasurer for over 30 years. She was Woman of the Year in 2022. Shirlean possessed a "quiet strength" and was faithful until the end. She was an inspiration to the entire church family. We look forward to that "Big Celebration" when we will all be together again.
Shirlean received her education at the Business Arts Magnet School in Dallas, Texas. She attended Cedar Valley College in Lancaster, Texas. Shirlean worked for many years in the insurance industry.
Preceding her in death: Mother – Jewelean Anderson, Father – Eddie Anderson, Sisters -Janice Anderson, Eddie Jackson, Min. Joyce Green, and Brother – Andrew Anderson.
She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Gerald Florence; son, Tone'e Florence; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-granchildren; brother Rev. W. C.
