Obituary

Shonda Myeisha L’Oreal Carruthers was born on May 21, 1995, in Mount Vernon, New York to Jenniffer E. Carruthers and Noel Hussey. Shonda was affectionately known as Munchie by family and some friends. She politely went to sleep and woke up in the care of the master on April 22, 2026, at the age of 30.

Shonda was an active member of the Little Friendship Unified Freewill Baptist Church under the leadership of Archbishop C.N. Edwers. The family moved to Texas in 2004 where she became a member and was baptized under the care of the late Bishop Ralph Williams. Shonda was a Dallas ISD student and graduate of Emmett J. Conrad High School in 2013. She became a member of the Antioch Fellowship MBC under the leadership of the late Dr. Karry D. Wesley and continued her faith journey under the leadership of Pastor Chris Wesley until her transition. Shonda was like a pied piper with children as she dedicated her time to the Kidspoint Ministry at the church. Those children held a special place in her heart.

Shonda was an avid reader, loved to listen to music of many genres, and was a loving mother to her son Myles. Shonda and Myles are well-known for their “Munchie and Mookie Moments” which she would share on her social media platforms.

Shonda is preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Etta J. Blue; grandmother, Elder Lola M. Asson, grandfather, Carlton C. Asson; grandfather, James E. Carruthers Sr.; grandfather, Cecil Hussey and her brother, Jaleel A.E. Carruthers.

Her sweet memories will live on in her beloved son, Myles C. Carruthers; her mother, Melinda L. Blue; mother, Jenniffer E. Carruthers and her father, Noel Hussey Sr.; sisters, Marquita Robinson, Naomi Blue, Admyha Carruthers , Annabella Carruthers, Destinee Hussey, Anissa Hussey, and Miya Hussey; brothers; Eli Blue-Reed, Malik Carruthers (Norvear Johnson), Richard Blue-Reed, Tymeek Carruthers, Shymeek Carruthers, Tyler Carruthers, and Noel Hussey Jr.; grandmother, Etta DeRizzo; nieces, Jaziyah Martin; nephews, Jatavion Robinson, Christopher A.R.
