Shirley Ann Wilson Hogan slipped peacefully into the arms of her Loving God on Thursday, March 7th, 2024. She was born in Moorhead, MS on December 14th,1955 to the late Joe Henry and Leola Wilson. She was the second oldest of nine siblings, three sisters: Mary Lois, Delphine, and Bettie Joe, and five brothers: Theodore, Rodger Lee, Willie Earl, Barry, and Darry. She was preceded in death by one sister: Delphine Wilson Brooks and four half-brothers: Curtis, John, and Charles Wilson.
Shirley was married to Earnest E. Hogan for 47 great years. They have three children: Anthony Darrell Hogan (Houston), Cedric Demarris Hogan, Brecha Lashay Hogan (Dallas), and a grandson Alijah J. Stafford. She was a devoted wife and loving mother.
Shirley began her early education at Moorhead Elementary School and completed at Gentry High School of Indianola, MS in the class of 1973. She then matriculated to Jarvis Christian College of Hawkins, TX earning her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1977. While attending Jarvis, she became a member of the Zeta Delta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
After attaining her degree, she relocated to Euless and the Dallas area where the job opportunities were more promising- Actually coming to marry Earnest- she pursued a few jobs at Cast a Jewelry Comp., Greyhound Bus. Com, L.D. Brinkman, BeautiControl & Eastgate Baptist Church.
Shirley confessed a belief in Christ at an early age at the Mt. Aria M.B, Church in Moorhead, MS. She united with East Gate under the leadership of the late Pastor H.D. Reagan. She continued to serve faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Kennedy Young Jr. until God called her home. She served as President of Usher Board #1 for more than 25 years.
Shirley loved her husband and family members and always had encouraging words with advice to share, whether they wanted to hear it or not. She enjoyed doing payroll, playing cards with friends on Friday night, reading the Bible & Daily Bread, watching game shows, traveling, movies, shopping, and going to church. As well as listening to Gospel Music. Shirley maintained a positive attitude throughout her illness and had a passion for life. She leaves to cherish her memories and will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
