Shelia Motley was born in Dallas, Texas, and gave her life to Christ at an early age—a decision that shaped the way she loved, served, and showed up for others throughout her life. Rooted in faith, family, and compassion, she carried those values with her every day. She was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School and remained a woman of strength, resilience, and unwavering love.
Shelia dedicated her professional life to caring for others, working as a dialysis technician and later as a home healthcare service provider. Her work reflected who she was at her core—a woman with a true servant's heart who never hesitated to show up for others, whether family, friends, or complete strangers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Artist Pearl Johnson and James Motley, and her siblings, Yvonne "Gail" McGee, Rochealle Waites, Lashorne Motley, and Charles Johnson.
Shelia leaves behind a lasting legacy of love through her children, Modree and Dr. Johneisha, and her daughter-in-law, Jasmine. She was
a devoted grandmother to her grandsons, Javonte' and Jamyron, and her granddaughters, Lashaun and Laila—each of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She also leaves behind her beloved grand dogs—Oliver, Nala, Forest, and Spade—who were truly a part of her family.
Shelia was an amazing, hard-working, and deeply loving mother. She treated strangers like family and loved her family as if everyone were her own child. She was quick to curse you out—but even quicker to say, "I love you."
She raised two children on her own with strength, determination, and an unmatched work ethic, and she never quite learned how to sit down and
rest. Now, Mom, this is your time to rest.
May God grant you the peace you so richly deserve and cover you in His divine grace forever and ever. You will be missed more than words can ever express, but your love, lessons, and laughter will live on through all of us.
