Obituary

SHEDRICK ONEAL CALLAWAY

An amazing God-fearing, astute man of The Most High God. He was a wonderful husband, an amazing, loving father, also an honest joy to be around. Shedrick, a.k.a. SOC (Shedrick Oneal Callaway), a.k.a. Redd, a.k.a. Dad, a.k.a. Baby- loved his family, loved knowledge, loved to laugh, and didn't mind sharing life stories nor testimonies about himself.

Shedrick was born to Margaret Jo Callaway-Carlisle December 9, 1969 in Dallas, TX. He was raised with a close-knit family who were well known for true morale, gracious acts and hospitality! He graduated from Kimball High School (Class of 1988) then joined the U.S. Armed Forces immediately after. In 1991 he was deployed to Iraq for Operation Desert Shield/ Storm. He served as a specialist in support of Field Artillery. He earned expert marksman in weapons such as rifle and hand grenade . He was highly decorated receiving the Liberation of Kuwait Medal in 1991. He received an Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army achievement Medal-1, National Defense Service Medal-1, Army Good Conduct Medal-1st Award, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars. He was an actual WAR-TIME VETERAN! Shedrick didn't hesitate in reminding folks he "WAS NOT THE ONE IN THE BACK CLEANING UP DOOKIE SHACKS!!! "

March 7th, 1992 an inseparable bond was formed when Demeatric Oneal Callaway was born! Shedrick made sure to be an inspiration to Demeatric and made sure he was very present in raising him alongside Demeatric's granny Margaret Jo! After an honorable military discharge, Shedrick worked for Akin Gump Law Firm. He later took on a trade of a diesel mechanic for a while at Werner Enterprises.
Shedrick enjoyed Demeatric's pop warner football games, baseball games and wrestling matches. Demeatric was skilled and advanced in wrestling where he competed on a city and state championship level. Shedrick and his son loved fishing together and once Demeatric graduated from Kimball High School- Shedrick thought he lost his fishing partner when Demeatric received and accepted a scholarship to University of Texas at Austin in 2010.

2010 also brought joy to Shedrick! He met his soulmate Lyncola Phillips... "she's a rapper" lol is how Demeatric introduced her! A friendship evolved into a journey of love, faith, support, joy, good laughs and cook outs! On August 18, 2015 a bonded union between Shedrick and Lyncola formed. Shedrick and Lyncola joined families in an intimate wedding ceremony blessed by family and The Most High God through Christ. May 15, 2016 Shedrick and Cola Callaway were "officially" baptized with The Gathering Of Christ Church-Dallas (Elder Ramar and Bishop Ahzan) for the remission of their sins, for salvation, and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and have established friendships/bonds/good rapport within their church. Shedrick was a fervent servant of the Men's Grill Team, Baptism Ministry, and Evangelism Ministry. He was very charitable and hospitable. He enjoyed fellowshipping with the brethren and had to make sure "his baby" was included!

If Shedrick had a "bucket list"- being a grandpa was definitely on it! He was an extremely proud grandpa to Demeatric Oneal Callaway Jr. All Praises to The Most High he was able to share time with him before transitioning to be with our Lord and Saviour Yashaya- Christ.

Shedrick was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Iantha Callaway; mother, Margaret Jo Callaway-Carlisle and her husband Kenny Carlisle; aunts, Ruby Jewel Frank and Willie Jean Jones; uncles, Jimmy Ray Callaway and Isaiah (Vessie) Callaway of Odessa, TX.

Many memories remain to be cherished by his loving wife, Lyncola Phillips-Callaway (Braelon Mitchell, Jayveon Mitchell); son, Demeatric Oneal Callaway (Demeatric Oneal Callaway Jr.); brother, Kenneth Carlisle Jr.-wife Emily Carlisle (Klayton Carlisle); mother-in-law, Gloria Phillips; brothers-in-law, LaQuinn McCray, Brandon Beck, Brent Beck; sisters-in-law, Susej McKnight, La'Qresha Phillips; a host of nieces, nephews, a great niece; loving family, friends and acquaintances.
