Shanda Harris-Spears

The world is a better place after having been exposed to such an angelic individual. Shanda Evetta Harris- Spears lived a joyous and courageous life. At any time of day she was filled with a bubbly spirit that would place a smile on anyone's face. She dedicated her life to sharing the word of God, not just through her words but through her life. A constant battle with major illnesses for the last few years, she never allowed her bodily challenges to affect her ability to impact to the Glory of God in her life.

On Easter Sunday 2004, Shanda along with her husband Iva Spears began pastoring God's Way Community Outreach Church where she began to transform the lives of the members and those in the community with her love and passion. She developed programs such as the Adopt a Family and Star of David programs. These programs highlighted her desire to positively affect the lives of the people in the local schools and in the community which she held so dear.

On July 5, 2012 God called to rest our beloved Apostle Shanda Evetta Harris- Spears. Shanda was born on April 30, 1969 to the parents of Willie Lee Harris and Alberta Louise Jackson Harris. Shanda spread love to all with whom she was ever connected. From her classmates at Hillcrest High School, to her students and work associates at Apple Tree Daycare and AT&T, to the many members, friends and church associates whoever came in contact with her knew what it meant to be loved.

Shanda is survived by her husband, Apostle Iva Spears; daughter, Sunshine Elizabeth Harris; son, Jackson Harris-Spears; granddaughter, Skylar Brielle Louise Mcgee; mother, Alberta Louise Harris, and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, friends and partners in the ministry.

The family will receive family and friends on Monday, July 9, 2012 8-8:45pm at Evergreen.

The homegoing celebration will commence on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 11:00am at New Mt. Moriah Baptist Church
