Sedalia was born to Walter and Effie Jackson on August 14, 1962 in Corsicana, TX. On Friday, August 24th Sedalia Elizabeth Gray went home to be with the Lord.
A graduate of South Oak Cliff High School, Sedalia worked hard, but work was not her priority, family was, as evidenced by the fact that she quit work on multiple occasions to care for and serve members of her family. She was a member of The New Covenant Fellowship Church of McKinney where she served in Hospitality.
Lovingly known as "Nanny", Sedalia was always smiling. She loved to shop and she loved being around people having a good time, where she could dance the night away. Sedalia enjoyed traveling and being on the go, but when she was not doing these things she was caring for others. She was always giving to and doing for those who needed her. She ran a summer after school program and worked at the Family Place community center training up children. Sedalia impacted those who knew her with her kindness and charm. Her love for you was always evident and it was quite easy to love her back. She will be missed by many, but she will never be forgotten.
Sedalia was preceded in transition by parents, Walter and Effie Jackson and brother Eddie Steward. Sedalia leaves behind her husband of more than 30 years, Johnny Gray; daughter, LaTress Samples and step-son, Samuel Gray. She will be lovingly remembered by her eight remaining siblings: Elize A. Pilot (Dana), Debra Steward, Walter L Jackson, Cora S. Polk (Terry), Barbara F. Kennedy, Regina K. Austin, James Jackson (Willie Mae) and Armatha Daniels (Gale). Her legacy will live on in her grandchildren: Sametria Gray, Destinye Shed and Preston Samples.
The homegoing celebration will commence on Thursday, August 30, 2012 11:00am at Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas.
