"She is in the land of the living now and her joy has been made full." - Dr. Jeff VanGoethem
Remembering Sandra Jean Green ....
Sandra Jean Green transitioned into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, after a graceful fifteen year battle with Alzheimer, at the age of 78. During her last days in her earthly body, she was surrounded by her mother, children, grandchildren, and siblings.
Sandra was born on July 27, 1940 in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Hubert and Lorraine Woodson. She was a bright child and excelled in school and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. Her sharp and detailed mind eventually lead her to a 30 year career at Texas Instruments as a Line Supervisor.
Sandra married Harrison Daniels in 1958 and out of their union two daughters were born, Shailendra and Paula. She later married Leroy Edwards and was blessed with another child, Torry. Sandra was a doting mother and valued family. Often with limited means, she provided a wonderful childhood for her three children. Not able to complete her college education, she encouraged her children to pursue higher education and to reach their full potential academically and professionally.
Sandra accepted Christ as her personal Savior and Lord as an adult and with her deceased husband, Clyde Green, was a faithful member of Mount Horeb Missionary Baptist Church and in her later years frequented Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship with her daughters. She keep a Bible by her bedside and read it daily.
She was known for her elaborate holiday meals, immaculate housekeeping, and her keen fashion sense. Her neighbors in the community of Elm Thicket in North Dallas respected and appreciated her quiet and caring spirit. Before her illness, she never forgot her children's, grandchildren's, or neighbors birthdays and loved decorating her home. On week-ends, she could often be found at Valley View or North Park Mall for much needed physical and shopping therapy!
She is survived by her mother, Lorraine Rowe; daughters, Shailendra Thomas (Richard) and Paula Forney; son, Torry Edwards (Cheryl); grandchildren, Lorren, Brian, Hillary, Chelsea, Jasmine, and Toriana; great-grandchildren, Landon and Brailyn; siblings, Hubert Woodson (Shirley), Linda Boles (Rev. Clarence, Jr.), Oliver Rowe and a host of extended family and friends.
Home Going Services will be conducted at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship at 11am on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 1808 West Camp Wisdom Road with Pastor Bobby Gibson officiating. A public viewing will be held from 10am to 11am on the same date and at the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
