Rubén Mata Casillas nació el 1 de noviembre de 1958 en San Luis Potosí, San Luis, México, hijo de Asunción Casillas y Socorro Mata.

Rubén emigró a Estados Unidos en 1978 con nada más que determinación, fuerza de voluntad y la esperanza de construir un futuro mejor. Apenas dos años después conoció al amor de su vida, María Teresa Sosa, con quien compartió más de cuatro décadas de amor profundo y una gran compañerismo. Juntos construyeron un matrimonio basado en el respeto, el cariño y un apoyo incondicional. Compraron una casa en Dallas, Texas, y la convirtieron en un hogar lleno de cariño y amor para criar a su familia. Junto a su esposa, Rubén recibió con alegría a sus tres hijos: Gerardo, Rubén Jr. y Jesús. Fueron su mayor orgullo y felicidad —aunque también le causaron unas cuantas canas.

Rubén se distinguía por su entrega al trabajo y su generosidad. Dedicó su vida a asegurarse de que a su esposa y su familia nunca les faltara nada. Dio todo para que sus hijos tuvieran las oportunidades y comodidades que él nunca tuvo. Realmente lo entregó todo: su tiempo, su energía y su corazón. Aunque fue en poco reservado, fue un hombre de gran corazón. El tenía un amor muy especial por los animales y nunca le negaba ayuda a ningún ser necesitado. Tuviera plumas, patas o pelaje, si se cruzaba en su camino, encontraba compasión.

Más allá de ser padre, Rubén fue figura paterna para muchos —siempre dispuesto a ofrecer palabras de aliento, consejos sinceros o una reflexión profunda (pidieras o no). Su guía era justo lo que uno no sabía que necesitaba, con esa honestidad cálida y directa que sólo él sabía dar.

Rubén fue muchas cosas —hijo, hermano, esposo, padre, abuelo, nieto, tío, sobrino, primo y amigo. Amante de los animales, de la naturaleza, constructor, ayudador y, sobre todo, un ser humano extraordinario. Pero más que nada, será profundamente extrañado por todas las personas a quien sus vidas ha cambiado.

No hay palabras que puedan aliviar el dolor ni llenar el vacío que dejó su ausencia. Los días se sienten más pesados sin él, y la tristeza es profunda. Sin embargo, con la gracia de Dios, seguiremos adelante — viviendo cada día lo mejor que podamos, honrando su memoria y la luz que trajo a nuestras vidas. Puede que su presencia ya no esté, pero su espíritu nos guiará siempre.

Ruben Mata Casillas was born November 1, 1958 in San Luis Potosí in San Luis in Mexico to Asunción Casillas and Socorro Mata.

Ruben immigrated to the United States in 1978 with nothing but determination, resilience and the hope of building a better future. Just 2 years later he met the love of his life, Maria Teresa Sosa with whom he shared over 4 decades of deep love and partnership. Together they build a marriage rooted in love, respect and unwavering support. They bought a home in Dallas, Texas, and transformed it into a warm and nurturing space to raise their family. Alongside his wife, Ruben welcomed three sons into the world: Gerardo, Ruben Jr., and Jesus. They were his greatest joy and pride — even if they did cause a few gray hairs along the way.

Ruben was defined by hard work and selflessness. He dedicated his life to ensuring his wife and family never went without. He gave everything so his children could have the opportunities and comforts he was never allowed. He truly gave everything; his time, his energy and his heart. A man of quiet strength and endless compassion, Ruben had a deep love for animals and would never turn away a creature in need. Whether it had fur, feathers, or paws, if it crossed his path, it found kindness.

Beyond his role as a father, Ruben was a father figure to many — always ready with words of wisdom, support, or a heartfelt piece of advice (whether you asked for it or not). His guidance was often exactly what you didn't know you needed, delivered with the kind of honesty and warmth only he could give.

Ruben was many things — a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was an animal lover, a nature enthusiast, a builder, a helper, and above all, an extraordinary human being. But more than anything, he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

No words can ease the pain or fill the emptiness left in his absence. The days feel heavier without him, and the sorrow runs deep. Yet, by the grace of God, we will carry on—living each day as best we can, honoring his memory and the light he brought into our lives. His presence may be gone, but his spirit will guide us always.
