Roy Chester
Mcclaney
May 30, 1945 – October 5, 2023
Roy Chester McClaney, age 78, was born in Birmingham, Alabama, to his biological parents, Clinton McClaney, and Mildred Davis, with Clemmie "PT" Williams as his stepfather. He was called home to the Lord on October 5, 2023, after a valiant battle with illness, surrounded by his devoted family.
Roy's early years were spent in Birmingham, but he later moved to Dallas, Texas, where he came of age, embracing his love for sports. He played Varsity Football and Basketball for Lincoln High School.
After graduating from high school, Roy pursued higher education at Prairie View A&M University before answering the call to serve his nation. With great pride and courage, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he dedicated himself to the cause during the Vietnam War.
Upon completing his service in the Army, Roy returned to Dallas, and, on July 28, 1968, he exchanged vows and hearts with his beloved wife, Helen Ann McClaney. Their love story would span an incredible 55 years, built on devotion and unwavering commitment.
Roy dedicated over three decades of his professional life to AT&T, where he retired from. In addition to his career, he and Helen raised three wonderful children, instilling in them the values of love, family, and hard work.
One of Roy's greatest passions was golf. He spent countless hours on the green, perfecting his game and forging cherished memories with friends and loved ones.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Helen McClaney of DeSoto, Texas, and their children: Minister Sharif Fabray McClaney, Talisha Michelle McClaney, and Rasonn Jabbar McClaney, along with his wife Jennifer Michelle McClaney. He was a doting grandfather to Jordan Dionte Pierce, Jasmine Brielle Pierce, Deon Jones, LaDarius Sanders, J'Michael Overton-Jones, Jade Elaine McClaney, and Jariah Ann McClaney.
In addition to his immediate family, Roy leaves behind a vast network of family and friends who will forever cherish the moments they shared with him.
As Roy McClaney took his final "Walk of Life" at the Veterans Hospital of Dallas, Texas, we remember him not for the tears we shed but for the love we shared. His legacy of strength, love, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
Roy Chester McClaney will forever remain in our hearts as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
