Roy Burns Dixon was born July 2, 1942, to the parentage of Esther Maria Moore and Charles O'Neil Dixon Sr. in Dallas, TX. He received his formal education in the Dallas Independent School District where he was a proud graduate of the illustrious James Madison High School Class of 1960. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Navy where he served his country for six years until his Honorable Discharge.
In 1965 Roy captured the heart of his high school sweetheart Brenda Epps. In this union they were married for 15 years and gave life and love to Michele C. Epps, John F. Epps, Daphne L. Dixon, Stacy L. Dixon, Brian A. Dixon, and Christopher Roy Dixon. Roy later married Sandra Session and through this union he gained three stepchildren.
To know Roy was to love Roy. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and stylish dress. He was a lover of all things family, cutting a rug on the dancefloor, and traveling with his classmates "The Traveling Trojans". Roy was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon under the tutelage of Rev. Dr. Damien N. Williams Sr. Pastor.
On June 24, 2021, God requested the presence of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Roy B. Dixon. Roy is preceded in death by his wife Sandra Dixon, son John F. Epps Sr, parents Esther Moore and Charles O'Neil Dixon Sr, brother Charles O'Neil Dixon Jr, and sister Delphia Dixon.
Roy leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, Michele C. Epps, Daphne L. Dixon, Stacy L. Dixon, Brian A. Dixon (Ja'Net), Christopher Roy Dixon, and stepchildren Cheryl Bates, Cynthia Bates-Jones (Jeff), and LaTrice Terry (Bernard). Through these children he received an added blessing of eleven grandchildren, Ahundraleyce Dixon, Dominique Dixon, La'Kecia Epps, Arhmanti Dixon, John F. Epps Jr, Jeremy Epps, Justin Epps, Shambrika Taylor, Cameron Taylor, Nickolas James, and Jonathan James (Kenyonna): as well as twenty-two great grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory two siblings Jochain Moore and Diana Moore, and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to those celebrating his life with precious memories are two very special childhood friends Robert Starks and Charles Maples and his devoted James Madison High School Class of 1960.
His love and memory will remain in or hearts and spirits forever gently urging us to pursue God's purpose for our lives. His life of faith, courage, dedication, and hard work was an example for us all. Though physically no longer with us, his loving spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew him.
