Obituary

Rosemary Leonard, the second oldest of four children, entered this life on December 24, 1924 to the union of Clara Mae and Arthur Johnson. Rosemary was born in Terrell, Texas, but the family moved to Dallas, Texas where she became a longtime resident.

Rosemary received her education from the Dallas public school system where she graduated from Lincoln High School. She later committed herself to become a domestic worker for many years. Her strength and perseverance was rooted in her faith. At an early age Rosemary accepted Christ into her life and became a faithful member of the Porter Temple CME Church.

Rosemary loved to travel with her daughter Barbara to their annual trip to Las Vegas and Arkansas. Between family and friends she was surrounded with an abundance of love and people who were willing to serve Rosemary in her time of need. The family would like to offer a special thanks to all that helped care for Rosemary, including Hattie Redmond who was there in the last few years.

Rosemary passed away peacefully at UT Southwestern hospital on March 24, 2020 at 7:55 p.m. She was preceded in death by her loving daughter Barbara  Ann Thomas. She leaves to cherish her memories son-in-law Robie Thomas III; nieces Sheila Stevens and Gail Leeks; nephew Kenneth Gibson (Jacqueline); great niece Monique Bruce (Vincent); great great nieces Valencia and Monica Bruce; grandson Robie Thomas IV; great granddaughter Gianni Thomas; god-daughter Betty Jones as well as a host of many great friends and love ones. Her presence will always be missed, but we rest easy knowing she is in the hands of her maker.
