Roosevelt Wilson Shepherd departed from this life after 83 years on December 7, 2023 at Methodist Hospital with his family by his side. He was born October 28, 1940 in Dallas, Texas. Roosevelt attended and graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to be a successful business owner. He met the love of his life Phyllis and they married October 10, 2020.He was preceded in death by his mother; Osie Mae McCoy, son: Donnie Shepherd, siblings: Eugene Sr, Eva Mae Allison, Clifford, Wayne Ray, Willie KayDavis, Earnest James, Ocie Lucky, Walter Earl, and
grandparents Samuel and Eugenia McCoy. Roosevelt was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, greatgrandfather, uncle, brother in law, neighbor and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to travel, listen to music especially the blues and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved growing vegetables in his garden. Roosevelt had a passion for cooking his favorite meals (greens, vegetable soup) and entertaining family and friends at home. Roosevelt had a diverse range of talents including gardening, golfing and fishing. Everyone who knew Roosevelt will remember his witty conversations and quick sense of humor Every day is a gift and Roosevelt cherished each moment.
Someone said, "It is not what we leave behind, it's what we leave in people's hearts that counts." Roosevelt has left us with many memories to cherish and truly will be missed but not forgotten by all who knew and loved him. Roosevelt is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis Smith-Shepherd, daughters: Tawanna Shepherd, Tammie Shepherd, Kimberly Dawkins (Santa) sons: Danny Wilson Shepherd, Arthur Richardson, Terrence Shepherd (Benita) Armand Smith (Miwa), Terrance Smith (Kimberly) 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
