Obituary

With love, honor, and heartfelt gratitude for a life of service, we celebrate the life and legacy of Ronnie Barnes, who was born on October 17, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio. On March 16, 2026, he peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of strength, devotion, and love that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Ronnie was born to Robert Lee Barnes and Elizabeth White, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Mrs. Prunella White ("Penny"), and his aunt, Alice. Their loving memories surely welcomed him home in glory.

Ronnie was a man who understood the value of duty, commitment, and perseverance. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army on August 22, 1978, and faithfully served his country until his release from active duty on August 22, 1981. During his time in service, Ronnie earned numerous medals and awards, a reflection of his dedication, discipline, and honorable character. His military service was a source of pride, not only for him, but also for all who loved him. He wore the spirit of a soldier with dignity, courage, and strength.

After his military service, Ronnie built a hardworking life through his career in the moving industry. He worked as a Project Manager and was employed with Mayflower Moving Company, All American Moving Company, and Darryl Flub Moving Company. He was known as a dependable and committed worker who took pride in doing his job well.

Ronnie's spiritual foundation began early in life, spending much of his younger years in church with his aunt. As an adult, he attended New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. His faith remained an important part of his life and helped shape the man so many came to respect and love.

Beyond his work and service, Ronnie had a joyful side that brought warmth to those around him. He loved playing basketball and enjoyed cheering on his favorite Cleveland teams. He was a man with a quiet strength, a loving heart, and a presence that will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Beverly A. Barnes; his stepchildren, Keith Smith, Candace Smith, Charlotte Escobar, Prekeisha Chislom-Thompson, and Colette Douglas; his beloved aunt, Gene Jamison; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
