Rodessa Taylor was born October 18, 1957 in Longview, Texas, the seventh oldest of eight children to the late Arthur and Bessie Taylor. She departed this life on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at the age of 61.
Rodessa accepted and professed Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where she served for many years at different times.
She married at age 20 to Edwin L. Peters Jr and to this union one child was born, Edwin L. Peters III. She later had a union with Vincent Johnson for a few years.
Rodessa was a graduate of White Oak High School in White Oak, TX; Mountain View College in Dallas, TX. Rodessa was a part of the Rapturea Third World Christian Movement Choir of Mountain View College. She also had a love for and played the saxophone in her earlier years.
She retired from the United States Postal Service in 2015. She also spent many years working for Southwestern Life Insurance Co.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Bessie Taylor, sisters Altha Taylor McMillan, Mae Pearl Taylor Collier and brother Arthur Lee Taylor Jr.
Leaving to cherish her memories are: her son, Edwin L. Peters III (Trenese); grandchildren Kennedi, Cayden, and Chloe Peters; sisters, Lola B. Johnson, Peggy Patterson, Ann Taylor (Evant), and Brenda Pierce; and a host of special nieces and nephews, cousins, God children, other relatives and close friendsEvergreen Memorial Funeral Home
