Hunter, Sr.
June 28, 1958 – May 18, 2024
Our soldier, Mr. Roderick Burnett Hunter, Sr., was born to the late
Elizabeth Hunter and Rufus Anderson on June 28, 1958, in Dallas, Texas.
Affectionately known as Roddy, he spent his youth in West Dallas and
Marshall, Texas. He received his high school diploma from Lincoln High
School in 1976. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Army and
was honorably discharged in 1980.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Friendship West Baptist
Church in 1995.
Roderick was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Hunter and
Rufus Anderson, and his brother, Clifford Earl Hunter.
Left to cherish his loving memories are his wife, Denise Hunter; his
children, Joi (Nikki) Hunter, Roderick (Bear) Hunter II, Brandon (B)
Hunter, Reneka Manning, Nicswzaren Wesley, and Charles Garrett;
siblings Walter Hunter, Henry Hunter, Karen Hunter, and Bobby Hunter;
Eva Anderson, Candice Anderson, Pamela Hicks; sister-in-law Kristy
Hill and brother-in-law Zwaan Garrett; 11 grandchildren, and a host of
nieces, nephews, and special friends of the family
