Obituary

Robert T. Williams Jr., affectionately known as “RT,” was born on March 14, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, to Robert T. Williams Sr. and Ollie Marie Williams. He was raised in Rowlett, Texas, where he developed the strong work ethic and vibrant personality that would define his life.

RT began his career with the City of Dallas at the young age of 16. Starting as a sanitation worker, he steadily broke barriers and made history, becoming one of the first Black men to serve as a truck driver in his department. Through dedication and perseverance, he rose through the ranks to become a District Manager. He retired at the age of 50, leaving behind a remarkable legacy. Among his many accomplishments, RT was known for achieving a historic milestone—running a full summer without any overtime—and for creating the foundational maps used across all five districts for the rollout of city roll carts.

On April 17, 2026, Robert T. Williams Jr. peacefully departed this life at a hospital in Rockwall, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He is now at rest, free from pain, and in the presence of the Lord.

RT was a man full of life—charismatic, sharp, and unforgettable. He lit up every room he entered with laughter and joy. Known for his impeccable style, he was always dressed to impress in a suit and tie. RT had a generous spirit and took care of everyone around him, from family to friends of his children. He loved to joke, talk “smack,” and speak his mind with honesty and humor. Above all, he kept it real and lived authentically. His laughter, kindness, and big heart will forever be remembered.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert T. Williams Sr.; his mother, Ollie Marie Ligon; and his brothers, Michael J. Williams and Marvin James Williams; and sister, Bessie Lois.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Samantha E. Williams; his children, Sherrie Robinson (Randall), Tonya Williams, Lamontica Williams (Danelle), Dominique E. Williams, Kelsha R. Williams, and Alicia Nicole Williams; and his siblings, Robbie Wilson, Latisha Wade, Charles L. Williams (Keisha), Emma D. Pierce (Harold), Ollie R. Vicks (James), Ethel Renee Senters, and Beverly Alexander.

RT’s legacy also lives on through his grandchildren: Taliyah E. Wallace, Donavon Smith Williams, Bobby Ray Reed, Kennya Ray Reed, Alaysia Nicole Walker, Kennedi Anaya Walker, David Lee Lewis III, Jace “RJ” Williams (on the way), Shantell Williams, Kamille Williams, Kiasha Williams, Jimmy Williams, Detrick Williams, Tanganyika Tramble, Jaqueline Timberlake, and Patrick Timberlake; along with 13 great-grandchildren.

Robert T. Williams Jr. will be deeply missed and forever loved. His legacy of hard work, laughter, and generosity will continue to live on in all who knew him.
