Reverend Bernard Harden was born on July 4, 1951, in Natchez, MS. to the late Gloria Mae Dyer and the late Bernard McFarland. He attended Wilkinson County High School in Woodville, MS. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Patricia Haley-Harden on July 1, 1972. To this union there were 3 children, Cedric Harden (Yumetiko) of Hattiesburg, MS, Darian T. Harden Sr. (Tamara) of Houston, TX, Berna Patrice Harden of New Orleans, La.
Bernard accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. In 1983, he united with the Fatherland Baptist Church of Natchez, MS, where he was ordained and licensed as a minister. He reunited with Mt. Everest Baptist Church in New Orleans, La under the late Rev. Skinner. He served as a faithful and supportive member, later appointed as Assistant Pastor, where he served in many capacities for many years. His faithfulness and his love for all people was always "top priority".
He was an Associate Minister under Pastor E.C. Wilson and a member of Sunday School Class #2. He has been a member at The Church Without Walls Men's Ministry, Kerygma Ministry (Preacher) and Discipleship Classes.
His heart for the Lord and His people was always in action as he served on multiple Ministry Teams. He was well known as a prayer warrior and Soloist. One of his most favorite songs, "I Won't Complain". He continued his service unto the Lord until he started experiencing health issues.
Bernard loved spending time with family and friends, watching movies, reading, working word search puzzles, eating junk food and snacks, and loved celebrating with family and friends. He leaves a legacy of service to God, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Alene Lawrence. He leaves to cherish his dear memories with his 3 children, his siblings, Bennie Harden (Roberta) and Alma Pride of Dallas,TX, Shirley Dyer of San Antonio, Tx, Henry Dyer of Woodville, MS, Linda Dixon (Clint) of Natchez, MS, Lois Gaddis (Archie) and Bernard McFarland Jr. of Houston, TX, Gregg McFarland of Lottie, LA and Edward McFarland of Austin, TX, 10 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
