Reginald Wayne
English
October 5, 1954 – April 28, 2026
Reginald Wayne English, affectionately known to most as “Reggie,” lived a life that stood as a powerful testimony of faith, service, love, and devotion. His journey was anchored in Christ, strengthened by prayer, and lived out daily through the way he loved God, served others, and cared for his family.
Reggie was born on October 5, 1954, to his loving parents, Mason and Dorothy English. He was the youngest of four children, blessed with two older brothers, Howard and Clarence, and one sister, Carolyn. From his earliest days, Reggie’s life would grow to reflect the values of faith, family, hard work, and humility.
Reggie was a Christ-centered and God-fearing man who did not simply speak of faith—he lived it. He walked with the Lord, trusted Him through every season, and allowed his life to echo the words of Scripture: “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” — Revelation 2:10. For 36 years, Reginald faithfully served through his work with the United States Postal Service. He was known for his infectious spirit, joyful presence, and the warmth he brought wherever he went.
On October 18, 1997, Reggie was united in holy matrimony to Sherry Gipson. Their union was built on love, faith, and commitment. Together, they blended a beautiful family. Sherry brought her children, Stephanie, Steven, Simone, and Simeon, and Reginald brought his son, Brian. Through this union, God formed a family rooted in love, strengthened by faith, and held together by grace. Their matrimony produced an abundance of love that continues to live on.
As a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Reggie was a steady and dependable presence. He was strong, wise, and reassuring. He led by example, offering guidance, support, and comfort to those around him. His family could always count on him to speak wisdom, show love, and remind them that everything would be alright.
His faith was most evident in his commitment to the church. Reginald served faithfully for more than 30 years at New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, where he served in many roles, including Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Brotherhood leader, choir member, and devoted member of the outreach ministry, helping feed and care for the sick and shut-in. He was well known for using his voice to lead songs as an offering of honor, worship, and praise unto the Lord. In 2023, he continued his walk of faith as a member of Concord Church, remaining committed to growing in the Lord.
Outside of his work and ministry, Reggie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman who loved spending time on the water, casting multiple lines, enjoying the peace, and reeling in crappie, bass, catfish, and perch with his fishing buddies. Those moments reflected the kind of man he was—patient, steady, peaceful, and content.
Reginald Wayne English was preceded in death by his parents, Mason and Dorothy English, and his sister, Carolyn. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife of 28 years, Sherry English; his children, Stephanie (Gerald), Steven, Simone (Adriana), Simeon, and Brian (Ashley); and his beloved grandchildren, Gabrielle, Gavin, Joseph, Joshua, Faith, and Khalil, each of whom brought great light, pride, and joy into his life. He also leaves to cherish his memory his two older brothers, Howard and Clarence, along with a host of relatives, church family, friends, and all who were blessed to know and love him.
Reggie’s life reminds us that God is always in control. No matter what life brings, we have the victory through Christ Jesus. Though he has gone from labor to reward, his love remains, his faith still speaks, and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and all who were touched by his life. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” — Psalm 116:15
