Quella Lucky
Quella Chappell Lucky was born in Dallas, Texas on July 17, 1941. She was the daughter of Rev. Frederick Chappell and Mrs. Annie Mae (Bryant) Chappell. Q, as most affectionately called her, was educated in the Dallas Public Schools Systems graduating from James Madison High School, and later attended Bishop College earning a B.A. in Sociology. In October 1965 Quella met and married the love of her life, Homer Earl Lucky. Quella and Homer were blessed with 49 years of marriage before he passed away on February 20, 2014. Together Q and her Homer created several successful businesses most noted Lucky's Fair Park Liquor that was open for more than 25 years. Quella was also very involved with Missionary work and travelled abroad to help build churches in impoverished countries. During her lifetime she was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Illinois Ave Baptist Church and in recent years Greater Bethlehem Baptist Church. Quella loved working with her local mission and youth departments at each church. On Wednesday, March 15, 2017 Quella passed away peacefully at her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband - Homer Earl Lucky, brother - Frederick Chappell and sisters - Mildred Chappell, Helyn Chappell and niece Alonzette Bridgett Chappell.
She leaves to cherish her memories her siblings: Dr. Alonzo Chappell, Mrs. Freddie Hodge, Rev. Isaac Chappell, (Marian), Brenda Haskins -Quella never met a stranger and leaves a host of nieces, nephews loved ones and friends.
