Peter Ray Granger, Sr. (Pete) was born on March 2, 1957, to the parents of Milton and Beatrice Granger of Beaumont, Texas. He was the youngest of five siblings: Milton, Jr., Charles, Mary, and Delores. Peter and his family faithfully attended Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. In 1975, he graduated from Hebert High School in Beaumont.
After moving to Dallas, he united with Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church. In 1977, Peter graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology, where he received an Associate Degree in Applied Science and Electronics. For many years, he worked as a service technician for Johnson Controls, servicing the heating and cooling needs of major buildings throughout the Dallas and Fort Worth areas.
In 1978, he met Lindy Stallworth. On August 8, 1981, they were wed. To this union, two children were born: Peter R. Granger, II, and Aurielle LaTrese Granger.
Peter, Lindy, and the children united with Holy Cross Catholic Church. There, he worked faithfully with the Knights of Columbus, serving as a 4th Degree Knight and past Grand Knight of Council 7017. He also served as past President of the Greater Dallas Council of the Knights of Columbus.
Peter never met a stranger. He was a people person who loved to laugh, tell jokes, and enjoy the pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman who loved deep-sea fishing. After moving to New York, he enjoyed bowling, boating, and fishing in the rivers and streams of New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. In New York, he worked for many years as an engineer at IBM. While working for IBM, Peter enjoyed barbecuing for company events. Out of that love for BBQ, he opened his own catering business that he proudly named Texas Pete BBQ. He also loved traveling. When the open road began calling his name, he signed up as a truck driver, traveling across the United States.
On August 6, 2024, Peter peacefully transitioned, and he is now reunited in heaven with his parents Milton and Beatrice, his brother Milton, Jr., and his sister Mary Granger Alfred.
He leaves to cherish his memories and continue his legacy: a son, Peter R. Granger, II, Bedford, TX, and a daughter, Aurielle L. Granger, Dallas, TX; three grandchildren: Abria R. Granger, San Antonio, TX; Alijah R. Granger, Bedford, TX; and Ariah R. Spotser, Dallas, TX; a sister, Delores (Henry) Booker, Los Angeles, CA; a brother, Charles (Gloria) Granger, Beaumont, TX; and a Godson, Michael (Jacqueline) Booker, Castic, CA. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, as well as two dear friends, Cheryl Johnson, DeSoto, TX, and Virginia Durrell, Newburgh, NY.
