Obituary

Patsy Lou Campbell Furr was born to Prince Samuel and Lollie Campbell on July 3, 1935, in Denison, Texas. Her family attended Hopewell Baptist Church in Denison, where Patsy accepted Christ at an early age.

After graduating from Terrell High School, Pasty earned a certificate and cosmetology license. She set up shop in the back of her home, where she loved making clients look beautiful and helping them maintain healthy hair.

Patsy met the love of her life, Bennie Furr, when he was stationed at Perrin Air Force Base in Denison. After a short courtship, they were married on April 6, 1953. A few years into their marriage, Bennie & Patsy took on the responsibility of caring for Patsy's niece and nephew – Gloria, aged 10 and Gregory, three weeks old – after the tragic death of their mother (and Patsy's sister), Charlsey Campbell. A few years later, Gloria moved to Dallas, TX to live with her aunt, Georgia Clark. Soon after, Patsy and  Gregory accompanied Bennie to Paris, France, for a military assignment. The family would live in Paris for nearly four years.

After their tour in France ended, the Furr family moved to Philadelphia, where Bennie retired from the military. Patsy and Bennie separated due to irreconcilable marital problems, and Patsy moved to Dallas, Texas. But their love could not be quenched, and when it was rekindled, they planned to reconcile their marriage. Unfortunately, before they could physically reunite, Bennie died. This devastated Patsy.

Picking up the pieces and starting her new life in Dallas, Patsy worked for  Commercial Truck and Trailer, owned by her nephew, Clyde Cark. Later, she started a daycare in her home and cared for children for ten years, until her retirement.

Patsy attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, pastored by her nephew Clyde, whose teaching style she truly adored. Never a stranger to folks she met, Pasty loved talking to all people. She enjoyed garage sales, gospel music and playing social games like bid whist, dominoes and blackjack. In her early years, she loved to entertain family and friends at her house, displaying her excellent cooking skills and always showing love and hospitality to others. As anyone with eyes could see, Patsy also loved to look good.

Patsy Furr was preceded in death by her parents Prince and Lollie Campbell; husband, Bennie Furr; sisters, Georgia Clark, Charlsey Campbell, Jeanine Campbell and Dorothy Powell; brothers, Sylvester Campbell, Prince Campbell Jr, Robert Campbell and David Campbell; and granddaughter, Angela Coleman. She leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Victor Campbell of Philadelphia, PA; her sister Charlsey's children Gloria Campbell of Lindale, TX and Gregory Campbell of New Orleans, LA; grandsons David Campbell of Lindale, TX and Prince Campbell II of New Orleans, LA; her caregiver and nephew, Clyde Clark of Dallas, TX; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, special neighbors and friends.
