Obituary

Patsy Ruth Jackson Bush entered this world on September 12, 1942, in Dallas, Texas, a city that would witness the unfolding of her remarkable life story. Born to the late Hartford Leon Jackson II and Edna Jackson, she was the eldest among her siblings, embodying from the outset a sense of responsibility and leadership.

Her educational journey began at H.S. Thompson Elementary School and culminated in her graduation from Lincoln High School in the Dallas Independent School District, marking the foundation upon which her future endeavors would flourish.

Patsy's professional journey commenced with a thirty-year tenure at the City of Dallas, a testament to her dedication and work ethic. Following her retirement, she continued her service at the Intercity Community Development Corporation for fifteen years, where her commitment to community betterment shone brightly.

In the sacred bond of marriage, Patsy found both joy and purpose. Initially wedded to Jack Byrd Russell, she embraced the role of motherhood with the birth of two children, Larry Wayne Russell and Sandra Denise Russell. Later, in union with Marvin Bush, she welcomed three more children into her loving embrace: Shelia Danette Bush, Carlton Earlson Bush, and Serena Dell Bush.

But beyond her professional and familial roles, Patsy's true essence was rooted in her unwavering faith and devotion to God. A woman after His own heart, she found solace and strength in the scriptures, exemplifying her reverence through a life lived in accordance with His teachings.

Patsy's spiritual journey led her to True Light Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, where she was baptized and remained a faithful member for years. Later, she became a charter member of The R.E.A.L. (Repenting Exalting Applying Loving) Baptist Church, under the guidance of Dr. Michael W. Fisher, actively participating with the usher board, the Mother's Board, Hospitality and Senior Ministries.

Her dedication to her faith was paralleled by her passion for philanthropy. Patsy possessed a boundless empathy for those in need, tirelessly uplifting and empowering others through her involvement in numerous charitable organizations and community initiatives, such as the City of Dallas Black Female Support Group, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, Order of the Eastern Star, a Board Member of The Welcome House Incorporated, and a volunteer in the St. Philip's School and Community Center Administration Office.

Yet amidst her many pursuits, Patsy's greatest source of joy and fulfillment was her family. A devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, their presence a constant reminder of life's most precious treasures.

Patsy's vibrant spirit, brimming with warmth and compassion, touched the lives of all who knew her. Her laughter was infectious, her kindness boundless, and her legacy enduring. Though she may have departed this world, her memory remains etched in the hearts of those who were privileged to call her family and friend.

Preceding Patsy in death were her parents, Hartford Leon Jackson II and Edna Jean Stearne, her brother Hartford Leon Jackson III, and her loving daughter, Sandra Denise Russell.

Left to mourn and remember her illustrious legacy are the following family members: Her sister, Vicki Stearne; her children, Larry Russell, Carlton (Glenda) Bush, Shelia (William) Pate, and Serena (Timothy) McNair; Grandchildren, Erica Russell, Eric Russell, Landon Russell, Elizabeth Taulton, LaMont Russell, Lance Russell, Jamillah (Kyle) Pate DeGroat, Amadi Pate, Honoria Bush, Amber Bush, Jordan McNair, and Sydney McNair; great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

As we bid farewell to Patsy in this earthly realm, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit lives on in the cherished memories she leaves behind. May her legacy continue to inspire us to embrace life with the same unwavering faith, boundless love, and indomitable spirit that defined her existence.
