Pastor Rosie Lee Lewis life could be categorized like a book from the bible. She loved her husband, children, her grandchildren, great grand grand children, siblings and family. She was a lover of the Lord. She loved the Lord so much that she founded Solid Rock Holy Missionary Church in 1977 where she pastured until her passing.
The sun rose on the life of Rosie Lee Lewis on July 9, 1928 in Jefferson, Texas. The oldest daughter of Jesse James Green and Everlean Green (in heaven). 18 siblings was formed from their union with 9 siblings in heaven and 9 remaining. Rosie`s surviving brothers are: Roosevelt, Sam (Dorothy), John L., Frankie (Annie Mae), James Willie (Marie) and James Edward all in East Texas. Her surviving sisters are: Dorothy Nell, Mattie Pearl, and Cathy.
Education and Work
Graduate of basic education from Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Texas.
She went on to Nurses school where she obtain her certificate of Nursing Assistant in Dallas.Graduate from Jefferson High school and Nurses school May 1, 1974. She worked as a nurses assistant both publicly and in the private sector. Her real job was saving souls and leading lost sheep to the Lord.
Rosie would always say, "I work for the Lord and he would pay me for my work one day!"
Her Family
At the age of 17, Rosie met Wilbert Lewis, Sr. the love of her life in Texarkana, Texas. Through their union the raised 7 children. Wilbert, Jr (deceased), Glenda Jean (deceased) and Shirley Lewis (deceased). Her surviving children Ethel Lee Lewis, Junior Lewis, Odis Lewis and Joe Lewis.
She loved her family, but the core of her heart was her grandchildren, great grand children three times over. Her lineage boasts of 4 children. 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and 3 great great great grandchildren. She has prayed over 5 generations of her family and countless others that has called her "Momma", "Momma Lewis" "Granny" "Grandmomma" "Pastor Lewis" "Momma Rosie", and "Momma Dee".
One June 30, 2017, Rosie serenely joined her deceased husband, parents, children and siblings in heaven. She was surrounded by her family and friends. The Lewis and Green family is rejoicing in heaven because it was her life's work. Her family will always be reminded of her countless efforts in church, at home and in the community where she lived. Everyone that met her loved her, but her crowning glory is when someone asked her, "Could you be my momma?" She was always ready to accept that invitation because she loved everyone.
