Pastor Dicky
"Jackie" Johnson
August 24, 1949 – August 26, 2022
Daddy's Obituary
Pastor Dicky "Jackie" Johnson was the fifth of seven children born to the late Frank and Lula Bell Johnson in Dallas, Texas on August 24, 1949.
Dicky married his sweetheart, Dora May on October 31, 1975, and built a beautiful life with her for 46 years, two children and one grandson. This tight knit family was extended by the insurmountable love and hospitality they shared with relatives, church family and friends alike.
Pastor Johnson went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 26th, 2022. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior in 1980. He was called into the ministry after serving as a faithful deacon at Christian Holy Temple COGIC for over 20 years. He received his ministerial license in 1991 and his ordination in 1996 from the Church of God in Christ Northeast Jurisdiction under the leadership of the late Bishop J. Neaul Haynes. Pastor Johnson and his family ventured out to start his pastoral ministry 4 years after receiving his Elders ordination. Pastor Johnson wanted to establish a ministry that focus on the importance of a changed life and that God's love can change anyone that truly wanted to experience his redemptive power. He founded Ministry of Deliverance Church, "A Church for All People" in Desoto, TX in August of 2001. Pastor Johnson faithfully served as the beloved Pastor and Founder for over 20 years. He loved his church family dearly and compassionately and always felt it a privilege and a joy to pastor the small flock. He taught the true Word of God without wavering. He spoke the truth, the whole truth and nothing but truth because he feared only God.
Pastor Dicky was a loving and jolly Man of God, A Jolly Giant. He believed laughter was medicine and he loved to spread joy everywhere he went with everyone he met.
For those who knew him, he was a jack of all trades, The Black Superman, he could fix anything, loved to swim, fish, cycle, skate, play sports, watch karate films, and mentor young men and teach them technical trades. He gave them guidance on how to avoid criminal behavior and showed the beauty and importance of being a family man that took responsibilities seriously. A true example of manhood.
He had a passion for reaching those who did not know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a teaching preacher that would tell his testimony of redemption and deliverance to everyone that would listen. He was an example of "they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony..." (Revelation 12:11)
Pastor Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Dora "Retha" Johnson, his parents, Frank and Lula Bell Johnson; three brothers and one sister, Freddie Lee Johnson, Bobby Lee Johnson, Parker Jay Johnson and Betty Pearl Thompson.
Pastor Dicky Johnson is survived by two loving children, Thaddeus (Kellian) Johnson and Dekedra (Fredrick) Kasera; one beloved grandson, Thaddeus (Jennifer) Johnson Jr.; two great grandchildren, Ocean & Huey Blade Johnson; and a host of dedicated in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, brotherhood of preachers and friends.
