Otha Dean Watson was born March 29, 1946 in Lubbock, Texas to Thomas and Edna Watson. She was an honor graduate of Dunbar-Struggs High School. She received her Bachelor of Art Degree in Interdisciplinary Management from Southwest Texas University and her Doctorate Degree in Health Administration from the University of Phoenix. She was a licensed Real Estate agent, Insurance Agent, and Mortgage Officer.
Otha became the primary care giver for her son after a debilitating illness left him incapacitated. She devoted herself wholly, ensuring he received exceptional care. After he passed, she followed her passion, using her experience and knowledge, to provide quality health services and companionship to those in need. In 2019, she started her own Health Care Agency, "Give Me a Break".
Otha was a devout Christian and member of Inspiring Body of Christ Church in Dallas, Texas. Her faith in God gave her the strength and determination to carry on when times were hard. Otha was a role model for living a servant led life. She did not hesitate to step in when others were in need and never asked for anything in return. She never complained and always sought out the good in everyone.
She loved her family deeply, always looking out for and surrounding herself with those she loved. She tried to instill in them to always move forward in life and better themselves, encouraging them to pursue higher education and seek out opportunities. She also encouraged others to follow their hearts and dreams and not allow others to stand in their way.
Otha passed on May, 7 2020. She was preceded in death by her sons Donovan Thomas and Rashad Watson. Her parents, Thomas and Edna Watson. Her sisters, Erma Ashlock, and Gloria Walker and her brother, Melvin Watson. She's survived by her son Gregory Thomas of Dallas, Texas and her sister, Tommie Ervin of Lubbock, Texas. She had six grandchildren, DeGregory Thomas of San Antonio, Texas, Emoni Thomas, Erica Thomas Donovan Thomas, Dorrian Thomas of Austin, Texas and Darrian Thomas of Dallas, Texas. She had five great-grandchildren, Kori Brooks, Amir Brooks, Amil Brooks, Nova Middleton, Nyum Middleton, and a host of other relatives and friends.
