Norma Jean Chambers was born on July 11, 1952 in Hope, Arkansas to the late Lee Earnest and Florence Smith. Norma departed this life on February 21, 2023 Charleston Medical Center Hospice Care. She was preceded in death by her son Ronald Chambers, Jr. Norma accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Lonoke Baptist Church, Hope, Arkansas. Last known membership was Concord Church Dallas, TX. Norma attended Hopewell Elementary and Yerger High School with the class of 1970 which graduated at Hope High School. Norma received her Bachelor Degree at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and later completed her Masters Degree. Norma moved to Dallas in 1977 and started her education in teaching at the Downtown Business Magnet School. Throughout her career, she taught at various schools with the Dallas and Ft. Worth Independent School District for 40 plus years. Once she retired, she continued teaching and tutoring students through the Educational Tutorial Services throughout the United States and International. Norma was also working on her Doctoral Degree prior to her passing. She was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Norma was a devoted mother who truly loved and worshiped her daughter.
Norma precious memories will be cherished by her daughter, Chezera Chambers; three sisters, Linda Clark(Larry) of Witchita, Kansas, Regena Nash(Oliver) of Killeen, Texas and Delmetric Braggs of Glenn Heights, Texas; one brother, Michael Lee Smith of Hope, Arkansas. Lanitra Nash, Tiffany Smith, Lena Nelson and Juanette William(Nieces); Keithen Nash, Chris Smith, Tyrone Smith, Torrance Shaw and Tyler Nolan(Nephews). Special friends Mia Brown, Raizce Wade, Chasity Henry, Margaret Moss, Annie and George Parker, Isabel Nash, the Class of 1970 of Hope High School and other relatives and friends.
