Obituary

"Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: But a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised." Proverbs 31: 28-30

Mrs. Nodie I. Adams was born to Mr. Clyde and Mrs. Alice Bolden on October 15, 1928 in Athens, Texas. Accepting Christ at an early age, she met and married the love of her life, Mr. Will Adams, Jr. Their union was blessed with four wonderful children, and their home was filled with Christian values, love, and fortitude. Together with her family, Nodie proudly owned and operated the Adams Drive-In Grocery in Dallas for over 15 years. As a devoted member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Incorporated; Nodie was active in the Pelati Auxiliary, and served as chapter secretary for over 40 years.

Mother Nodie was a woman of steadfast faith. She utilized her gifts, talents, and heart for service in various capacities in worship and beyond. Nodie was a Deaconess at Greater Mount Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Roosevelt Montgomery. She later joined Golden Gate Baptist Church under Rev. C.B.T. Smith, was an active member of Greater Golden Gate Baptist Church under Rev. Fabian K. Jacko, where she was once honored as "Mother of the Year;" Nodie later reunited with Greater Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in 2021.

Mother Nodie's long and rich life was a testament to the grace, mercy, and favor of the Lord; even surviving trials of breast cancer twice. She was indeed a compassionate and kindhearted woman of God; blessed to enjoy her most treasured moments as devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who's legacy and inspiration will live on for generations to come. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers; as well as her son; Morris Adams, and granddaughter, Roneetha Adams.

Left to cherish her memory with love are her son, Willie Adams (Pamela); daughters Denise Peacock, and Ruchelle Parish (Darrell); sister, Alice Fay Sheppard, granddaughter, Sha'Rae Easterling (Antonio), and grandson, Brian Peacock; along with many extended family members and friends. Father God, we thank you for blessing us with Mother.
