Nedra Joyce
Oliver
August 29, 1954 – December 31, 2024
A Time to Be Born
Nedra Joyce Oliver was born on August 29, 1954, to the late AJ and Dollie Mae Cox-Williams in Dallas, Texas. She was raised in Dallas, where she attended the Dallas Public and Catholic school systems.
A Life of Love and Dedication
Nedra embraced her role as a devoted homemaker and family-oriented individual. She had a passion for shopping and visiting malls, earning her the reputation of a fashion icon. Known for her giving spirit, she generously helped anyone in need, often sacrificing her own comfort to provide for others. Her home and heart were always open to those who needed a place to stay or a meal to eat. She was a mother to many, a mentor to others, and a stranger to none.
Faith and Ministry
Nedra's faith was central to her life. She attended Holy Temple CHSC under the leadership of the late Bishop W.T. Smith and later dedicated herself unwaveringly to serving the Lord. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age at True Light Church of God HOP, where she was baptized in 2006.
As the First Lady of the church, Nedra supported her husband's ministry with devotion and dignity, extending her care to those in need. Her faith, compassion, and strength were a testament to her enduring love for God.
A Time to Rest
On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, after a lengthy illness, Nedra completed her earthly journey. A fighter to the very end, she lived a full and meaningful life, never giving up. Her journey is now complete, and she has gone from labor to reward.
A Legacy of Love
Nedra was first united in marriage to Norman Walker, and to this union, one child, Jenyce Walker, was born. She was later united in marriage to Ervin Smith Sr., and from this union, two children were born: Ernisha Smith and Ervin Smith Jr. In 2004, Nedra was joined in holy matrimony to Bishop Osmond Oliver Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful life and ministry.
Cherished Memories
Nedra is survived by her beloved husband, Bishop Osmond Oliver Sr., and their five children: Jenyce Jacquot (Gerald), Ernisha Smith Dunagin, Ervin Smith Jr., Antraniqua Oliver, and Osmond "OJ" Oliver Jr. (Janetria). She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, Turquoise, Tiara, Topaz, Tadrian, Tiana, Teal, Tavier, Tavion, Tyler, Taylor, Walter Jr., Austyn, Ervin III, Ari, DaDa, Jordan, and Niyah; 5 great-grandchildren: Dallas, Kingston, London, Phoenix, Dakota, Kartier, and Kingsley.
