Obituary

Namon McQuay was born on September 1, 1949 to Dorothy and Curtis McQuay. He passed away on August 9, 2026.

Namon went to Lincoln High School and went on to study at East Texas State University and Texas Southern University.

In July of 1969 he was drafted into the US Army and served in Vietnam until July of 1971. While in the army he was awarded the national defense service medal, and two bronze service stars.

After his return to Dallas, Namon pursued his passion for cooking and became a chef. During his career he worked at the Engineers Club and one point opened his own restaurant.

Years later he went on to work for Kroger as a truck driver where he worked until retirement.

He loved cooking, keeping up with politics, seeing live music, and football. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, and warmth.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis McQuay; mother, Dorothy Harris; and daughter, Candra McQuay.

He is survived by his son. Namon McQuay Jr.; his sisters, Connie Wade, Deborah Baker, and Sheila Banks; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
