Obituary

Moses Velt Jones, Sr. was born on January 1, 1925 to the late Boston and Leola Jones in Fairfield, Texas. He was the youngest son of seven children. He received his formal education at Post Oak Elementary and Fairfield High School. He received Christ as Lord and Savior of his his life at the age of nine years old.

On November 21, 1943, he was united in holy matrimony with the late Benolia Johnson. To this union, three children were born: Bruce, Arlene and Moses, Jr. In April of 1950, Benolia and Arlene tragically passed away. In 2009, Moses, Jr. also passed away tragically. On August 27, 1950, Moses united in holy matrimony to the late Doris Burks. To this union, nine children were born.On April 14, 1963, Moses received his calling to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and became an ordained minister. On April 8, 1964, being led by the Holy Spirit, he established The Great Millennium Baptist Church where he pastured for 44 years until his health declined. He always proclaimed that he wanted to "wear out not rust out." He was a spiritual father to many at the church and in the community.

Moses was preceded in death by: his parents, Boston and Leola; spouses, Benolia and Doris; daughter, Arlene; son, Moses, Jr; sisters, Ruby, Thelma, Eula Mae and brother, Howard.

Left to cherish his memories: sisters, Beatrice Philpott and Blanch Jackson; brother in law, Horace Burks; children, Bruce (Tanya), Johnny, Thelma (Reverend Edmund Page), Ruby (Bobby), Kaffrie Jones, Demerian (Reverend R.D. Brown), Minister Debra Bell (Willie), Reverend Samuel Jones (Sonya), Elder Antonio Jones (Sharron), Chenerial Jones, 26 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
