Obituary

Begin with the Right Ingredients:
I was born on February 13, 1956 in Mexia, Texas, Limestone County. My father was Willie D. Forge and my mother is Doris M. Forge. I was raised in Dallas, Texas with two brothers and four sisters. I attended Julia C. Frazier Elementary School, Pearl C. Anderson Middle School, and Lincoln High School. I went on to graduate from Bishop College with a Bachelor of Arts in Business.

Blend with My Children:
I had two children, Kyle Forge and Keegan Forge. Kyle passed away at birth. Keegan, the joy of my life, brought so much joy to me. She was my world but God is my Love. My daughter often told me how I was the best mom to her…loving, attentive, kind, and supportive.

Mix in the Love of Extended Family:
We were part of the Forge family, well known and respected in Dallas, Texas. Eight children were born to Willie D. & Doris Forge. My mother, Doris, was an only child who worked exceedingly hard to raise us with morals and values, but most importantly, to put God first. Then the Bass family came into our lives to extend our family even more. We enjoy each time we are able to gather. After my mother retired, I looked forward to cooking with my daughter each week for family dinner. My mother has a first cousin who is more of a sister to her and is Aunt Ella to us. To further our family came my mother's grandkids: Keenon, Kyron, Kelli, Korynn, Keegan, Kellen, London, and Brandon and our special friend, Jasmine McCartney. Then came her great-grandkids: King Jaiden, Kendon, and Kylar. Trust me, they are more than enough!

Sprinkle with Hard Work:
I was taught to work at an early age by my mom, who was a great example. I started out working with Dallas Community Action Youth Program. After receiving my B.A., I went on to work at IBM for about five years. Then, I went to work at Xerox Corporation for 26 years. I retired from Xerox and started to substitute teach for Dallas Independent School District, following in the tradition of my two sisters and cousin who had always worked in Education.

Fold in the Fellowship of the Saints:
I grew up fellowshipping at Warren United Methodist Church for most of my life. After moving to Desoto, we went on to fellowship at the Church of the Disciple UMC, where I enjoyed being a part of the Platinum Plus ministry, volunteering with the United Methodist Women's ministry, and serving as an Usher until my health began to fail. My family also served at both Warren UMC and Church of the Disciple UMC.

Add a Heaping Scoop of Hospitality:
Our home was forever open to anyone that needed help, a place to stay, food to eat, clothes and shoes to wear, a nice embrace, a solid word of God, the love of Jesus. If they needed an extended family to love, we were there for them. Following the example of Christ and our wonderful mother, we welcomed everyone.

Finally, Serve Well Done:
On Monday, February 5, 2018, my recipe for the good life came to a close. I heard the words I had been waiting to hear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant!" God's angel came and wrapped me in the whitest of sheets and picked me up in his hands and took me home. The Lord spoke to my sister, Melonie (no one can pluck her out of my hands)! My time on Earth was done and the doors to the great heavenly life opened. To see my father, grandparents, my son, sister, brother, and nephews, aunt and uncles…a host of family waiting for me at the gate.

To my beloved daughter Keegan, I love you with all my heart. To my wonderful and loving Mom, you were my great example. To my sister Beverly, I love you and thank you for all you've done for me and my daughter. To my sisters Deborah and Melonie, I love you all so much. Thank you for all your help and prayers. To my brothers Gerry and Ron, thank you for being loving brothers. To all my nieces and nephews, I love you unconditionally. Last but not least, Aunt Ella, thank you for loving me and for all the prayers. To Stephen, thank you for loving us and for everything you do. King Jaiden, Kendon, and Kylar, I love you all so much. Kylar, so sweet and beautiful. King Jaiden, handsome boy, pray for me, get on one knee. Kendon, handsome boy, you are a joy to us.
