Obituary

Angel of God Ascending into His Heavenly Grace.

A place prepared for His precious servants of righteousness. Servants close to God always have knowledge of His presence. Quietly on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, the angel of death made a visit to claim one of God's own in the name of Minnie Mae Stephens Turner. Minnie Mae heard that still soft voice calling, and she knew the time of her departure was at hand and she became an ascending angel of God.

God only picks the best that he has on earth when their earthly task is complete. In Minnie Mae He placed a caring, giving and loving heart that she shared with others. Listening with her heart, she was often called the "Peacekeeper." A listening ear with calmness, never meeting a stranger, the theme of her life seemed to be ,"If I Can Help Somebody."

A Woman of God, Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt and a friend to all. Minnie Mae was born on February 6, 1958 in Shreveport, LA to the late Ivy and Lena Lindsay Stephens. She grew up in Mooretown Community and attended Shreveport public schools, graduating from Southwood High School in 1976. Upon graduation she attended Southern University and A & M College graduating in 1980.

Minnie Mae confessed and accepted Christ at an early age by uniting with Galilee Baptist Church in Keithville, LA under the leadership of the late Rev. Willie L Davis. Upon moving to Dallas, TX she united with the Griggs Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Homer Webb, Sr. While faithfully serving at Griggs Chapel she met and married Curtis Morell Turner, Sr on September 4, 1987. They were true to their vows for 33 years. To this union one child was born, Curtis Morrel Turner, II.

Minnie Mae was a faithful and active member of Griggs Chapel until the Lord called her home from her labor. She served faithfully on the Hospitality Committee and was involved in the Book Club and many other auxiliaries in the church . Minnie Mae faithfully served as the Secretary of the church. She was affiliated with the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. She was a member of the South-Central Dallas BPW where she served as Club Recording Secretary, Club Second Vice President and Youth Advisor. On the District level she served as District Database Administrator and District Beta Phi Facilitator. She was a loyal and dedicated employee of UT Southwestern for 37 years.

Her memories will be deeply cherished by her loving husband Curtis Morrell Turner, Sr, loving son Curtis Morrel Turner, II, and Step-Son Chauncey Turner (Myesha); two brothers Ivy Stephens, III of Shreveport, LA, and Jerome Stephens (Gwendolyn) of Cedar Hill, TX; one sister Esther S.
