Obituary

Minnie Brenda ("Mommy") Beal was born on October 5, 1929, to the union of Phodie and Mary Ann Parker.  She spent her early years living in Fort Worth, Texas until the family moved to Dallas, Texas, where she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1949.

She worked for a few employers until her late Aunt Doc helped her to obtain a job with Everest Jewelry Store in Dallas where she eventually met, and married, the late Leroy Beal in 1952.  At that time, she chose to remain home being a housewife and raising her children (Diana, Marilyn and Jeanae) for 20 years.  When the youngest daughter went to high school, she resumed her working career working as a Teacher Assistant with the Dallas Independent School District for 29 years.

In her early days, Brenda was fond of riding horses.  She once led the parade on horseback for the opening of the State Fair of Texas carrying the Texas flag, along with her late husband who carried the United States flag. She also enjoyed swimming, traveling and reading mystery novels.

But most importantly, as an avid reader, her true love for reading was of the Bible.  She was a true scholar of the Bible. Having been baptized as a young adult, Brenda lived her life as a strong woman of faith! She was an active member of Munger Avenue Baptist Church before becoming a member of Friendship West Baptist Church.

On March 24, 2022, at the age of 92(she would proudly say "92 years old"), Brenda transitioned from this life into peace and glory. She will be missed by all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by four of her siblings: Jimmy Parker, Gladys Dixon, Cora Boykin and Ester Wimbley, and one grandson, Robert Foster-Twyman.  She is survived by her daughters, Diana Beal Huguely (William, deceased), Marilyn Beal Twyman (Ronald) and Jeanae Beal; two granddaughters, Galen Huguley Johnson and Gabrielle Huguley; one great-granddaughter, Alysia Leigh Johnson; brother, Calvin Parker (Erma), sister, Virginia Thompson (Arthur) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
